Meetings & Events

On behalf of the Chicago HFES Chapter, thank you to Michael Hirsh, Senior Biomechanics Engineer at Life Fitness, who gave a presentation on the ergonomic and human performance testing methods that are used to design and evaluate fitness equipment. We got to see the Biomechanics lab at their facility, as well as try out some Life Fitness and their competitorsí workout equipment, especially elliptical machines and treadmills. We focused on the various touch screen interfaces and other user controls for the treadmills. Also, we learned how Life Fitness evaluates various elliptical cross trainers to quantify user feel and acceptance to make natural feeling products.

Coming in July, we are looking forward to another interesting presentation to be given by Ed Israelski from Abbott Laboratories regarding Human Factors and Healthcare. More information coming soon.

If anyone would like to sponser another upcoming meeting in 2011, please contact Chapter President, Sunil Lakhiani at
